From Large Volumes of Scanned Papers to Virtual Observatory
February 12, 2009 marks the bicentennial celebration of the birth of America's 16th president Abraham Lincoln. Local communities and counties, state and federal agencies are planning and organizing the celebrations.
Many Lincoln documents have already been studied and made available to the public through books, monographs, and initiatives, some of which are available online. The existing virtual spaces accessible via the Internet usually do not provide a comprehensive view of the fast growing amounts of digital information about Lincoln’s life.
