NCSA's Environmental Cyberinfrastructure Demonstrator (ECID) project is developing a Cyberenvironment to support environmental engineering, science and hydrology research. The ECID Cyberenvironment is based on a set of coordinating technologies that together provide unique capabilities for integrating local and remote work and for capturing and exploiting data and interaction provenance.

The ECID Cyberenvironment demonstrates how scientific cyberinfrastructure can be made more usable, robust, and relevant by focusing on end-to-end scientific use cases and by incorporating flexible system-level mechanisms for workflow, event management, provenance and knowledge management, and collaboration.
